Mac Tip — File Sharing with Cyberduck and Etelos Share

I have discovered a great way to use Etelos Share™ and a great app on my Mac that works well with Etelos Share. My wife and I both use Mac and frequently need to share videos, pictures and other files. Additionally, I am concerned that someday I'll drop my laptop or the kids will spill something on hers and all files will be lost. Well not anymore.

Not Just a Backup
I didn't want to use just a backup solution for me. I also wanted a way where we could organize and share files between us. So the Etelos Share product makes sense for personal use as well. I am collaborating on files and different share folders.

Within minutes, I created a new Etelos Share for a personal account from the Etelos Marketplace. I added my wife as a user and named the share that we would use.

My cable connection at home can sometimes be slow, and Finder on the Mac is not necessarily the best way to transfer large files. Someone recommended I try Cyberduck for doing large files. I like it a lot.

Easy to connect
Cyberduck was easy to connect to upload, download and share my files. I can drag and drop from my finder window directly into the Cyberduck file directory. The transfer dialog shows the status and time to transfer, plus I can pause and resume, stop and retry if a connection is too slow.

Annoying Certificate Warnings? No way...
At first, I received a warning about the SSL certificate being invalid. I clicked on Show Certificate and noticed there was a slight name mismatch. Apparently, it didn't like the *.domain "Wildcard Cert", so I just clicked on "Always Trust" from this domain. After doing that, all my transfers went extremely smooth.

Bookmarking and more...
Cyberduck has other great things that work well with Etelos Share. For example I bookmarked my share account so could quickly get to it in the future. I could also look at history and connect to other things via Cyberduck (ie. through Bonjour).

Multiple Shares and even more uses
So now that I have an easy way to create share drives and share files, we have more uses for it. My wife volunteers with a local Sea Scout troop, I have other small groups with our church, there are lot's of places we need to share files with others in a personal way.  With Etelos Share, we can create unique spaces for each; upload and share. Very cool. Very easy.

Enjoy.
